Barbara Stepner survived by widow of Jack Skigen MD. Proud mother of Deidre Skigen & son, Andrew Skigen, grandmother of Jackson & Alexander Skigen and sister of Stephen Stepner.
Barbara was Co-Chairman of the Miami Book Fair International, which she served in various leadership positions for many years. Served as President of the Ransome Everglades School Parents Association. The Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida, enjoyed her expertise as Chairman of the Board of Director. Barbara took a 5 year pause from volunteerism to become the Founding Director of Development for the Cushman School. Among her many interests, she was an avid quilter, a master Nantucket basket maker, an expert knitter, teacher and friend. She loved life & always kept a positive attitude, never hesitating to talk to strangers & make them her friends. Barbara will and is sorely missed.

Barbara Skigen born New York ,New York, March 13, 1943, widow of Jack Skigen, MD, proud mother of Deidre Skigen & Andrew Skigen, grandmother of Jackson & Alexander Skigen, sister of Stephen Stepner (Emily), aunt to Myles Stepner & Jenny (Chris) Mullen passed away on October 4, 2015.
Barbara was active in many community endeavors including Co-Chairman of the Miami Book Fair International, which she served in various leadership positions for many years. Ransom Everglades School was also a recipient of her talents, including her involvement on many committees, culminating with a year as President of the Parents’ Association. The Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida enjoyed her expertise in many capacities, including as Chairman of the Board of Directors. She was an active member in the Villagers, Fla Society of Goldsmiths, So Fla Jewelry Arts Guild & The Historical Association of Southern Florida. Barbara took a 5 year pause from volunteerism to become the Founding Director of Development for The Cushman School. Among her many interests she was an avid quilter, a master Nantucket basket maker, an expert knitter, teacher and friend.
She loved life and always kept a positive attitude and never hesitated to talk to strangers and make them her friends. She will be sorely missed by all!
